How we started
Wheels for Impact was born out of a conversation in a coffee shop in Adams Morgan, where local activists recognized a profound need within our neighborhoods. Many residents were eligible for essential benefits but remained unenrolled due to a lack of awareness and resources. The founders realized that a sustainable solution could involve harnessing the power of vehicle donations to fund a comprehensive benefits-research service.
It started small, with community outreach programs and partnerships with local organizations. The success of these efforts revealed the depth of need across Washington DC and Virginia, particularly in underserved areas like Anacostia and Arlington. By turning donated vehicles into not just funding but a pathway to vital services, Wheels for Impact emerged as a community lifeline, connecting neighbors with programs to uplift their families and improve their lives.
